Household electrical wire classification

1. Core Wire

① Electrical wires generally consist of a core wire, an insulation layer, and a protective layer. The conductor is the core of the wire.

② The most common core materials for electrical wires are copper and aluminum. High-quality household electrical wires are generally copper cores.

2. Solid Wire (BV): Used for power supply, lighting, general sockets, and air conditioner sockets.

Manufacturing Process: Single-strand solid wire, composed of a few thick copper cores. For example, a 1 square millimeter solid copper wire has only one copper core.

3. Flexible Wire (BVR): Used for power installations, household appliances, instruments, and telecommunications equipment, as well as distribution boxes.

Manufacturing Process: A conductor made of multiple strands of conductive solid metal wires with a diameter of less than 1 mm twisted together.

1. Circuit design generally uses 4.0 to 6.0 square millimeters for the main power line, 1.5 square millimeters for lighting, 2.5 square millimeters for sockets, and a dedicated 4 square millimeter line for air conditioning.

2. The electrical wires used in home decoration are generally single-strand copper core wires, with three main cross-sectional areas: 4.0 square millimeters, 2.5 square millimeters, and 1.5 square millimeters.

3. 6.0 sq mm wire is mainly used for the main incoming power line. 4.0 sq mm single-strand copper core wire is used for the main circuit and dedicated lines for air conditioners, electric water heaters, etc. 2.5 sq mm single-strand copper core wire is used for socket lines and some branch lines. 1.5 sq mm single-strand copper core wire is used for lighting fixtures and switch lines. The ground wire in the circuit generally also uses 1.5 sq mm single-strand copper core wire.

4. The lighting and switch wires used by the developer’s construction are 1.5 sq mm. 2.5 sq mm wire is also mainly used for light boxes and switches. During the renovation process, the renovation company will generally advise the homeowner to replace the original 1.5 sq mm wire with 2.5 sq mm wire. 4 sq mm wire is mainly used for ordinary indoor sockets.
